Chocolate Bonbons Class - How to Make Bonbons

Chocolate bonbons are a favourite dessert of many.

The bonbon can come in many forms and can be several types of sweets; however, it is usually a filling wrapped in a shell of chocolate.

Bonbons have their roots in France in the seventeenth century.

They can now be discovered and enjoyed around the world in various flavours and forms.

Traditional bonbons are a chocolate-shelled confection which can have a wide variety of fillings.

Some of the more common fillings include creamy caramel, white chocolate, cherry cordial, peanut butter and coffee.

There are also variations of the bonbon to include holiday traditions such as peppermint and candy cane.

Some non-traditional flavours are surfacing to the bonbon scene as modern cooking entices chefs and bakers to think out of the box.

Bonbons with unique fillings such as soft cheeses and lavender have been seen.

An easier bonbon recipe is the fudgy bonbon which is a very user-friendly recipe.

In a medium saucepan, you will combine two cups of semisweet chocolate chips with ¼ cup butter.

– Stir the ingredients occasionally while cooking over low heat.

– Once the ingredients are melted, remove from heat and stir in one 14 ounces can of sweetened condensed milk.

– Add in 2 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract; stir until well blended.

– Create small balls of dough from the mixture.

– At this point, a piece of your favourite candy can be added into the middle of the dough ball if desired.

– Place the pieces of dough (with or without the candy) onto a baking sheet at one inch apart.

– Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for six to eight minutes.

– Once the fudgy balls have cooled, dip into warm chocolate to create a candy shell.
