This is an intensive course where you will spend focused time practising and mastering each level’s basic culinary skills.
Chef In Training: Culinary Foundations (Available on Weekdays or Weekend)
The Chef In Training series consists of 8 sessions (over 8 days) and accomplished, and professionally trained chefs teach these.
These classes are available on eight consecutive days or once a week (on the weekend) for flexible learning. The duration of each class is 3 hours, and the total fees are SGD 1,500.
We schedule class intakes on alternate months and recommend you to enrol in advance for this popular course.
As the saying goes, if you want to become a chef, you need to learn to cook like a chef.
Once you enrol for the entire series (8 classes), you will receive a Professional Chef toolkit that comes with a personalized chef’s jacket, a chef’s towel, a professional apron, a recyclable and reusable bag, and a chef and paring knife.
The best learning experience is when you enrol in a whole series, and you can also join the individual classes.
What will you learn in the Chef In Training (Culinary Foundation) series?
Module 1: Knife Skills & Vegetable Cut
You will learn knife sharpening, specific knives, knife skills in handling and identifying common ingredients, safety in the kitchen, and food hygiene.
Module 2: Salad & Dressings
You will learn how to prepare different types of salads and dressings.
Module 3: Chicken
You will learn to cook and prepare chicken using different techniques that include pan-searing and braising.
Module 4: Chicken (Marinating)
You will learn different marination techniques and cooking methods.
Module 5: Beef
You will learn to make various beef-based recipes.
Module 6: Fish
You will learn how to fillet fish and different cooking methods.
Module 7: Fish & Seafood
You will learn more about fish and trimmings and how to prepare fish with seafood in these recipes.
Module 8 Fresh Pasta and Sauces
You will learn how to cook pasta using the right techniques to prepare the right kind of sauces such as Walnut Mushroom sauce, Arrabiata sauce, classic tagliatelle sauce and more.
You will be put through a restaurant simulation where the chef will discuss with you and guide you.
This comprehensive Chef In Training (Foundations) series is all you need to learn the full range of basic skills intended to help bridge the gap between the amateur home gourmand and the professional chef.
