Corporate Food Fairs

If you are looking to help educate employees on healthy eating and living, one of the best ways to do so is to have a corporate food fair.

These corporate food fairs are usually staged by companies who have a vested interest in the health of their employees’ organizations — schools, businesses, and local government bodies etc..

The central idea is to present food options which are healthy, delicious, affordable, and accessible to the average member of the workforce.

Employees should be given the opportunity to learn how to prepare the food.

It is essential that they are given hands-on experience so that they do not leave the fair too intimidated to apply what they have learned.

To get a corporate food fair going, you may want to secure financial support and volunteers and donations.

For financial support, you should contact other stakeholders in your business/divisions who care about or would benefit from improving the health of the employees.

If you are looking for volunteers and donations, it is a good idea to contact local restaurants, doctors, and nutritionists to see if they would be willing to set up their exhibits at the fair.

Do obtain any permits required to operate the fair and make sure that it is promoted well within the targeted employee community.

To organize a successful and fun corporate event, you should consider hiring a team of culinary chefs or chef instructors through an experienced culinary school who have a wealth of experience in setting up such events especially when it comes to culinary expertise such as food preparation, cooking instructions and demonstrations.

The main focus of the fair should be on taking the intimidation out of healthy living.

Many individuals who are not living healthy lifestyles are failing to do so because they honestly believe they cannot do better.

While general education and samples are helpful at these events, by far the most important aspect is providing attendees with hands-on experience that they can apply in their daily lives.

You want the exhibits to be more than just demonstrations— attendees should have the chance to try some cooking techniques themselves and get the chance to experience working with ingredients that are foreign to them.

When you organize the event, you should encourage those creating their demonstrations to focus on recipes that meet the criteria mentioned above healthy, delicious, affordable, and accessible to the average member of the community.

All recipes should be healthy because that is the focus of the corporate food fair.

They must be delicious as most people have a negative perception of the flavour of healthy food.

Individuals who eat unhealthy food are statistically more likely to be less motivated and productive than those who eat healthier items, so showing them that they can eat well on a budget is key.

Finally, the ingredients used should be accessible to the average member of the community—essentially, shop the local markets and use those ingredients.

An employee food fair can be an excellent tool for improving the health of the community.
